I can see clearly now

Written by Verne on October 10th, 2007

Unlike the Johnny Nash song, it’s still raining here in Toronto. BUT I just picked up a new 21.6″ LG widescreen LCD monitor from Future Shop for a cool $249.99 which makes the world of a difference. Hello eye-burning large resolution.

21.6? LG Widescreen LCD Monitor

It kind of makes the rest of my room look like crap.

The first step in my home office plans and some new motivation to take more steps.

PS: FS also had a 22″ Samsung LCD for $299 that had a glossy shell and a 2ms response time (compared to my 5ms). Should I have shelled out the extra $50 for an additional 0.4″ and 3ms? My tech advisor Ben confidently says no. And I trust him. What do you think?

Oooooo….pretty. Though I have to say, being the uber-junkie I am, I would have shelled out the extra $50.

I’m still debating whether I’m uber-junkie-worthy. 14 days to decide!

Ah, return policies, gotta love em.

    Oh, how it mocks me…

I’d LOVE to get a new one, but I don’t think I can since my [bad] LCD is still pretty “new”.

As tempting as the 22″ is, I’d probably stick to the one you just bought if I were you. Save as much as you can!

I think I would have traded an extra $50 for the 22″ not for its size but for the response time. I spend alot of time on the computer and I feel slow response times really fiddle with my sense of vision. I’m not a particular fan of seeing multiple cursors when it moves across the screen very quickly.

However, I suppose if 5ms is fast enough that it won’t show multiple cursors, I would keep it. :-) Along the lines of what Tiffany’s saying: you don’t get rich by spending money!

Ben told you not to spend the extra $50 because he’s going to get that one and didn’t want you to get it first.

I’m with spending the extra $50!

Congrats on the new monitor Verne :). It makes all the difference

Why didn’t you get a Dell LCD? They are apparently superior!

  • Verne

Thanks everyone for the input. In the end I decided that I was happy with the LG and would rather spend the extra $50 on getting a nice monitor arm (another suggestion from trusty Ben). That and I realized the sale ended the day after. :)

Rami - a Dell LCD would have been superior. Unfortunately their price tags are also superior. ;P
